FileDroid FAQ

1. Why can't I modify/view files in the phone memory?

A. Some parts of phone memory(/system etc.) are read-only, while others(/data) are not readable at all. This means you are unable to edit/view any files there.

2. I selected a file to copy/move but changed my mind. How do I cancel a Copy/Move and remove the Paste button from the screen?

A. Long-touch any other file/folder, and the Paste button will disappear.

3. Why can't I copy/move a file from Search Results page?

A. To simplify the program, this is not supported. However, you can long-touch the file and select Open Folder. After that, you can copy/move the file.

4. How to rename file/folder?

A. Long-touch the file/folder and select Rename, enter the new name and touch Save.

5. Why does the file type change when I rename a file?

A. Make sure you don't change the extension while renaming files. For example, if you would like to rename 'myfile.txt' to 'oldfile.txt', enter 'oldfile.txt' and not 'oldfile'.

6. How to use MultiSelect?

A. There is a description and explanation of the MultiSelect feature in the General Help section.

7. How do I delete multiple files/folders?

A. Long-touch the desired file/folder, and choose MultiSelect from the menu. Then long touch on any additional file you'd like to Delete, and choose Add to Selection from the menu.  When you are done selecting all of the files you'd like to delete, long-touch the last file/folder you selected and choose Delete.

8. Can I create shortcuts for folders?

A. No, this is not currently supported.

9. When I select the Compress & Send option, the email is sent without the ZIP attachment. What causes this problem?

A. Make sure you don't clear cache right after sending the mail.

10. Why are my JAR/TAR/GZIP files not shown as archive files?

A. Currently, only ZIP files are supported.

11. How do you hide files/folders?

A. Rename the file to include a .(dot) at the beginning of file/folder name. For example, myfile.txt becomes .myfile.txt. Additionally, make sure the option Show Hidden Files is unchecked. This is just a temporary workaround. In the next version of FileDroid, there will be a more intuitive solution.
